Robert nodded his head as if this was exactly what he would have said had he actually known the answer. My eyes narrowed. Perhaps I had found a worthy adversary. A soul from the opposite pole that would challenge me with wit and humor and carefully crafted conversation. Yes, I had high hopes for Robert. Let's just see from what mettle the man is made.
"What’s a Victory Vision?" Jackie asked of Robert.
Robert opened his mouth to speak, then closed it, considered his response, opened his mouth and then closed it again.
I was a tad disappointed in my new found arch rival. However, having no interest in watching his fish impersonation I jumped in and supplied an answer.
"It's a big touring bike. Very different styling. Very futuristic looking." My explanation was greeted with blank stares, so I continued. "It's kind of like a Goldwing, only more Buck Rodger-y. Or Jetson-y. Take your pick. You either love or hate the looks," I said with a shrug. "Personally Suz and I love it. She has an Art Deco ambiance."
"Oh," Jackie said, nonplussed. "Like a Goldwing."
That seemed to be all that Jackie needed. Every thing about her demeanor, from vocal tone to a flick of her hair said that the statement 'like a Goldwing' had quantified our placement in the motorcycle pecking order and it wasn't anywhere near the tier upon which the BMW roosted.
